Alright guys I felt I needed to make a review about this dvd since there is sooooo much discussion over this one little ol' trick.
So I'm sure you guys know what it is, the newest dvd on theory11. A torn and restored card effect that is totally impromptu, no gimmicks, no setup, uses only 1 card, the card can be signed, and can be performed surrounded! For a torn and restored card effect this sounds like a freaking miracle!
DVD quality: Do I really need to say? It's theory11 so of course it's top notch.
Teaching: Is very well done. I was able to follow along with no problem at all.
Practical: Ok here is where things start to get a little edgy, as probably everyone on these forums is a where of the reason why people are getting so heated about this effect is because you have to tear up the card at the end of the routine. Most people hate this idea as they want to give out the restored card as a souvenir. Personally people that hate on this effect for that exact reason kind of makes me upset for several reasons, as long as you perform it correctly your audience really won't care, what they just witnessed was amazing so they'll be focused on that! And if you are just annoyed with it, BE CREATIVE, just do something as simple as forcing a card and switch it out for a duplicate in the end. That way you'll be able to perform this awesome effect with all of it's pros and give them a souvenir! AND if you REALLY are just annoyed with it then don't buy it, stop complaining and move on!
I mean you're being given a torn and restored card effect that has SOOOO many freedoms that most tnr effects can't allow, stop being so freaking greedy!
I personally LOVE this effect! It was very similar to what I had thought the method was and I will be performing this a lot! Now I can't give you an extremely detailed review as I just learned it about 20 hours ago but I wanted everyone to have a little bit of info on this dvd.
More Personal Thoughts: I love how clean the restoration is, it's amazing and will certainly slay your audiences! The only real negative thing about this effect is the tearing of the card, it's a bit fishy, now of course I'm saying this from a magician's perspective, as long as you control your audience, perform it correctly, your audience won't even remember the tearing sequence and it'll be no problem at all.
Final Thoughts: I highly recommend this effect to anyone that loves tnr effects. This is probably one of my favorites, up there with Torn by Daniel Garcia and Counterfeit Hollingworth by Wayne Houchin.
