Requesting feedback on my new moves

I've been practising cardistry for a short while now (8 months in) and I would like to know what you guys think of the flourishes I've created.

I would like some specific questions answered.
  1. Are these moves original?

  2. If I filmed some high quality, HD tutorials of these moves, do you think any of them or even the collection are good enough for The Wire?

Thanks, guys. I appreciate anything you have to say.

The only one that I enjoyed was 'Tape Five', but the display has been used before and it could be a little smoother towards the beginning. Keep at it!

Nothing original here sad to say. The 2 in the middle have potential if you were to keep exploring them, but they seem too simple as they are now. You're only 8 months in though. You should be trying to soak up as many moves as possible. Your own will come out of experimenting with other things that are out there. To give you some perspective, I've been flourishing for 6 years, and I haven't filmed a thing. Keep working at it my friend. You'll get there.

I'm going to echo what Duncan said and just keep practicing, as you're only 8 months into it. My good friend Jon told me that most people today are creating flourishes with the mindset of "what's sellable" rather than "what [you] like". It's way too early to focus on trying to release tutorials for moves when you're just starting out. A mistake a lot of people make is that they submit a flourish in its beginning stages and it is not polished or smooth; it's incredible messy and usually is not original yet. I've been into Cardistry since around 2009 and I have not released a tutorial video for any of my created moves. I'm at the point now (6 years later) where I've refined my moves to get them how I like. Would I want to release a project of my own down the line with my original moves? Absolutely. But only because I know that I've put the practice in and figured out what works and what doesn't, and what fits my style. Just keep practicing and focus on getting better, not what you can sell. Just my 2 cents.

I agree that it's far too easy to fall into the mindset of easy-money doing something you like. And the idea of gaining quick points towards Elite status is easy to run towards as well.

I think the best way to know if you are putting out good product is to do A LOT of research and see what IS out there.

Reserach, research, research.

Making something innovative and original is A LOT harder than putting a new variant. I'm going to slightly disagree with CaseyRudd in terms of waiting until you make new flourishes. I'm not all keen on waiting years to make something new if you're chomping at the bit; part of whats makes a good stuff, I think, involves gusto and tenacity.

But on the same note, making new flourishes is like alcohol: Don't be reckless with it and put out bad product for The Wire. Please, research heavily of what already exists and what MAY look like what you're doing. Research is what should take the most time in your endeavor. and makes a world of a difference between original move and a variant.

Please flourish responsibly.

Also, don't flourish and drive. even if you think you're okay, call a cab.

MrHurley, I can see where you might have thought I said to not create flourishes right away, but that is most certainly not the case. He should most definitely be doing that! I just discourage trying to create material for the sake of trying to sell it, especially while he's just starting out.

Cheddarman, PLEASE create your own material, but since you are starting out, practice your original moves during this time and focus on making them even better.

I apologize for the misinterpretation.

I completely understand. Of course, as someone coming into the community very recently, it is very hard to be knowledgeable about the vast amount of flourishes out there. I've definitely made the classic mistake of trying to share what I have before I have anything complete and polished. I can see what I have isn't quite up to par with the experienced community members, but I will continue on this adventure and continue to create.

Once again, I appreciate those taking the time to reply.
