This is not a review of an effect but a review of Steve Wyrick's show in Vegas. I hope I'm breaking a rule by reviewing a show. His tickets will run about $70 for general and $150 for the VIP. The VIP, you get a free drink, some other extras and a meet and greet after the show. I bought the VIP.
Performance- His performance is excellent. I'm sure most of us have heard that magic is 90% (any high number really) presentation and performance and the rest is magic itself. With Steve, he nails it perfectly. If he didnt' do any magic and stood there talking, it would still make a great show. The way he engages the audience is great.
Effects- Of course, you won't learn how to do it afterwards but if you pay attention close enough, you will figure out a good deal of them (at least you think you will). He performs a wide range of effects that involve planes to Thumb Tips. He really shows you that it's not what you do but how you do it. He performs some effects that we can all do but I had not problem paying to watch because he is a great entertainer. His higher end effects are definately worth watching. My favorite effect he performed was the opener. He got a champagne glass and borrowed three rings. He then put the rings into the glass and swirled them around, afterwards he rings were linked. If anyone knows if this is a published effect, please let me know. It was great.
VIP Package- The best part of the VIP package was the meet and greet in the back with him. He is a great guy, very friendly, very amiable. Of course all magicians know each other and if you ask him about any other magician, he can tell you a little about them. He pretty much treats you like a VIP in the backstage meet and greet. Ask him to sign anything and he will do it. He signed around 5 things for me and loved to sign each one. He did a quick card trick and then signed one of the cards for my collection (Wynn Deck). I would definately say it is worth the VIP ticket.
Overall Rating- I give it the max of the rating scale. It was a great experience, loved every moment and worth every penny. Any questions feel free to ask or PM me, if anyone is going to Vegas and want some advice let me know.
