the performer"

First of all I would like to introduce my self my name is Greg I have two years performing magic, I mostly perform we cards I also do a lot of street magic, close up and some times even coin magic. Lately I had been involve in to some crazy situations, where you can see the true performer separated from just a guy who knows some tricks.so far I have gained some experience that I know im going to need in my magic journey.for me a true performer is the one who puts quality on top of quantity let me tell you a little story.

J.Bayme is on a magic shop when a young guy comes and says "Mr Bayme" i know 300 cards tricks how many do you know" "bayme looked at the young guy and said I know about 10.them he told the young magician that it was not about how many tricks you know but how well can you perform each one in other words "Quality over Quantity"

The performer don't play by the rules the performer is the one who make the rules by this i mean be original every day people want to see new things don't copy other magician stiles if you copy other magician stile I'm 100% sure that you are going to a mediocre in magic but don't get confuse you can still learn from other magicians just don't imitate them.

Another of the powers that a true performer haves is changing the way the spectators thinks is pretty cool when you make somebody believe in something that they thought was impossible moments ago.

"the guy who didn't believe in magic"

OK i was chilling you know doing nothing ,when a guy appears and said hey people are saying you are crazy with cards can you show me something I just smile and took out my deck and thats when he said i don't believe in magic or in anything that don't have a logical explanation so is going to be hard to impress me, I said in my mind I'm going to have some trouble with this guy , so i decided to start with two card Monte saying OK like you don't believe in magic i hope you do you do believe in cheating, I did the two card Monte perfectly for my surprise the guy turn out to be the best spectator that a magician can have I did wave the aces and he totally freak out them some girl saw me doing magic and the next thing i know i have 9 pretty hot girls around me..

I hope you liked the story but I didn't' put this story here for nothing I put it here to show you how can a single performance change the spectators view of the word around them but if you read the story there something that does not have anything to do with the story i give you a hint
"some girl saw me doing magic and the next thing I know I have 9 pretty hot girls around me..
you must be asking me what this have to do with the story nothing thats the beauty of the unexpected most of the time you are going to encounter what I like to call the "X factor" the X factor by the way is the unexpected things that happens on your performance most of the time you don't have control of this things but you should take control right away for example

part one.

"Mr.BOB" is performing a trick on the street for more than 20 people when bob prepares to palm a card for the big finish when 5 more people stop to watch and like by magic bob shows that the signed card is in his pocket he is a total success.

part two.

Mr.bob is performing a trick on the street for a crow with more than 20 people when he prepares to a palm a card for the big finish 5 more people stop to watch Mr bob,one of the new people says "Mr bob" haves something in his hand and "Mr bob" fails miserable.

part three

"Mr.bob" is performing a trick on the street for a crow with more than 20 people when Mr.bob prepares to palm a card for the big finish 5 more people stop to watch "Mr bob" when one of the new people said a joke and that leaved enough misdirection to "Mr bob" to hide the card on his shoe for a bigger finish.Mr bob had a great finish and a guy ask him for his business card so he can call him later for a private party.

This are examples on how the "x factor " can affect your performance and the bad thing is that you can't do nothing to stop the "x factor" but the good news are that you can control it,thats one of the things you need to know when you go to the street how to deal with situation remember be prepared.

The performer is the one who always entertains the performer is the one who fools you everyday now ask your self a question are you a performer ?

3 vs 300 tricks, Lee Asher said that in the beginner video, so yeah. Didn't really understand that part about Wayne, I got the main idea, but a little confusing.

Dude, good post. I understood it, and enjoyed reading it. I hope that i have the "X Factor" under control... i believe that i can handle myself in those situations, but many people will crumble under a failure or a catch miserably, and that just sucks. If you prepare yourself for a fumble then you will more than likely get back on that ball.

I got half way through that and I stopped. Why? Because of the grammer. Im really shattered today, and I cant be bothered to correct spelling. Theres a spell checker button in the top right hand side of the post thing, cant you use that?

Cheers, Tom
Ps. Another thing that stopped me, is that this is just the same things that other people have said before, but with different words. This is what Im beginning to dis-like about the magic communities. Ive heard lots of people say this before, and I couldnt really see what they were on about, but now I can.

hmm i have some troubles understanding your posts greg...

if i get it right, one of your point here is to go for quality instead of quantity?
That´s correct dude, i totally agree but....

wasnt it you who said in another thread that you have mastered 250 tricks out of 600 and you needed to know more hard hitting effects????

That´s a lot quantity!!!

This is from the same guy that said a few days ago he knows about 3000 tricks to perform and is looking for new stuff. Then goes into some quality over quantity discussion.

...here is the direct quote:

"I know around 600 card tricks but only can perform 250. but just name the tricks and books and DVD that you think are good.

by the way I'm not only doing card magic I'm doing everything except coin magic."
