S.W.E. Shift

Hello fellas and fellesses,

I had a question about Erdnase's shift. I've been doing it for a while now, but i can't get it perfect every time, and I DON'T expect to, but I wanted to see if I could get some tips from those of you who are proficient at the sleight, but please, I DO know the shift and I am NOT looking for exposure.

Thank you

Dom

I've been playing with all of Erdnase's shifts recently, and the common thread that runs between them seems to be initially finding a balance of pressure between the two packets. Then it's a question of increasing the pressure to the exact point that the packets start to move, and instantly relaxing which causes them to flick past each other and back into place almost automatically. This seems to be something particular to Erdnase's shift technique, and he includes this thinking in his teaching of the classic pass, or "two-hand shift". Therefore, if you're fairly proficient at the standard classic pass, play along with his description and notice the differences between his method and the standard teaching of the sleight. Then, you can apply the same ideas in your performance of the SWE Shift.

I hope that's helpful.

Yes, thank you very much.

I was trying a very different approach, which i won't state due to exposure.
