Hi there
I started cardistry about a month ago when oddly the idea popped into my head.
Ok after 1 month I can do the 6 pack cybil/helix/riffle and a 3 pack false cut. Also a couple of 1 handed fans that don't quite look right:)).These all look very good when I can pul them off but when done in front of others or even filming myself on my mobile while alone I keep messing them up.I realise it's just practise tho.Seems that alot of the time if I put the cards down for a few minutes then pick them up they feel fresh an things work again.
Got some questions for you:)
How long did it take you to become natural with the basic moves and cuts I have learnt and do you find a brand new pack too slippy at first?

Secondly everyone talks about Genesis v1 but living in the UK it's hard to get a hard copy.If I download it from the wire does anyone know any good software to get it onto a dvd?

Thanks in advance for replies and I'll update my progress as I go along.

Peace out

I too live in the UK and have found that you can just download Genesis and keep it on your computer (if anything it is more convenient to do so). Windows media player might be able to transfer it but I would recommend getting it and learning ASAP and worrying about putting it on DVD later. For a beginner like you and I, time spent not learning, especially from as good a source as genesis, is time wasted.

Brand new packs of cards are often too slippery, but many people prefer them that way. It's all a matter of personal opinion. When I open a new deck, I like to break it in with some Faros, fans, and spreads. I don't bend them too much though. You want to feel the side of the deck. When its first opened it'll feel rough and flat, like its just been cut, which it has. I like to wear those sides down just enough so that its smooth and has a somewhat soft/rounded feel. It takes maybe ten minutes, and they should be perfect for you. Basic moves and cuts, depending on what they are, can take anywhere from a day to months. Try to gain experience and master what you know, and then build your knowledge and Qlearn more advanced flourishes
