I have known the basics of the Classic Pass for some time, but never really practiced it. Yesterday I bought Jason Englands 1-on-1 of the Pass and watched it through. I think I have down my style of where my fingers are when I execute the pass, but I wanted to know if anyone has any tips on how to make it faster?

Thanks,
Rob

practice, thats about it. you'll pick up things.
i would watch that video to make sure you have the finger placements proper. and then just practice the basics. over and over
ive been doing the pass for about 2.5 years now. it was one of the first things i tried to learn, and im still working on it.

Some people criticize me for this, but I recommend the Pass Trainer by Hondo. It's a deck made of 8 steel plates. It's surprisingly heavy and will build the strength for executing this move, and will also make you faster. You still need to practice the finer movements, and also the misdirection and such, but it will help increase your speed while executing the pass. After five minutes of working with this, a regular deck of cards feels like nothing in your hands.

Even though I haven't gotten my hands on one of these, I would recommend that too. To build speed I use two decks and try to execute the pass swiftly with the right technique.

Also, being a drummer I used really heavy sticks starting out to build the muscles in my hands, and arms, helped quite a bit in speed. Same thing with a runner wearing ankle weights.

The main reason that I have seen Christopher get critized for this is just cost... Thirty bucks is hard to dish out for just one move, though some find that it is an acceptable cost for those who want to improve. If you are looking for a cheaper, but less effect way, you can always take two decks of cards and work on your pass that way. Honestly though, if you really want to improve your pass and you are one of those who is willing to put the effort and resources with it, go with the trainer plates, they work.

$30 is far less than Akira Fuji's PSP which was $80 plus shipping from Japan.

Also, you can do other things than practice the pass with the Pass Trainer. I saw a video of one guy practicing the Clipshift with it (which I just can't fathom). I also use it as an optional ending to my ACR.

I know, right? I think it was actually on this forum somewhere. It was a demo of sorts for the trainer, and at the end the dude did a clipshift. I kind of half watched the video, then noticed the end and went, "Wait ... did he .. just ... Clipshift a steel plate?" *rewind* *watch* .... *rewind* *watch* ... "How the ...."
