The Simple Switch - On Dan And Dave Buck's Trilogy

Hi,
I am kind of struggling trying to learn the simple switch by Dan And Dave Buck and my problem is it it seems that my first finger is not long enough or their is not enough pressure going into the to flick it out of the deck into my right hand that is waiting to catcxh the card.
CConsidering well that I practiced this sleight for almost 8 hours yesterday I guess I improved mecause 60% of thge time I can at least get the card to come out of the deck and do a kind of jump.
Still I don't have enough pressure or force going into the card to flick it and it is messing me up.
Any advice?

I got some short stumpy fingers and it screws up some stuff for me as well. Just keep tryin somtimes you can adjust a bit to get it right for you. Then again somtimes your just flat out a few bucks.

Just wanted to fix some crediting issues here. ;) Simple Switch is actually a move by Paul Harris that was put on the Trilogy. If I'm not mistaken, almost all of the stuff in the flourishing 101 section is actually not by D&D. I'm too lazy to pop in the disc, but I'm pretty sure nearly none of the stuff in that section was actually created by D&D.

Simple Switch can be found in The Art of Astonishment Book 3.

"Simple Switch" may very well be the most difficult flourish to perfect next to the Perpetual Motion Coin Myth. But there's one big difference. "Simple Switch" is not a myth. Even though it's right on the edge of impossible "Simple Switch" can be performed and mastered. If you turn out to be one of those rare individuals who has the willingness and determination to pay the price for achieving the almost impossible, you'll have acquired the ability to cause the top card of the deck and a card held in your other hand to simultaneously somersault through the air, fly past each other in mid-flight, where the card from the hand then lands on the deck, while the card from the deck lands back in the right hand.

EDITOR'S NOTE - This is not a joke. If you haven't personally seen Paul do this - ask around. It can be done - but you won't believe it.

You can see Paul do it in the preview for True Astonishments and David Blaine did it in his first special. ;)

As for practice... I have no advice. I haven't mastered it myself.:p I believe in David Blaine's book, Dave said he sat down for about 9 hours every day for several weeks before finally being able to master the move. Practice practice. ;)

I did not know that the simple switch was one of the most difficult flourishes to learn .
Well that explains why I was struggling with it ,but I am not going to give up on this flourish and I am detirmined to master it.

I don't have short fingers but i'd imagine and I've tried, that you can either move the card up or the deck down to get your finger under the card. Then you need to practice pressure and placement of all your fingers, because you still might have problems with it, and it won't be because your fingers "are too short". Practice. You are a magician/cardist, I'm sure you can think of a way to modify a move to suit your abilities, that's why magic and cardistry is so great.

I dont think its that hard, I dont practice this move(s) but I still do it. I just do it when Im messing around. I would say its a bit of a knack, you will get there.

Also, I think there are allot more difficult flourishes to learn than this one.

yo....

according to the card college...EVERY MOVE IN CARD MAGIC CAN VIRTUALLY BE DONE BY LARGE HANDS AND SMALL HANDS...there are just some moves that seem easier for small hands and easier for large hands;)
