Whenever I go out of my way to buy some item I normally do not buy my wife knows it has to do with some new magic trick I am learning. Here is a list of some of the odd/crazy things I have gone out and bought in order to practice and learn a new magic effect and who is responsible for making me do so:

Box of Tic Tacs - Brian Platt
Box of Bazooka bubble gum - Jay Sankey
#19 Rubber Bands - Brian, one of The Trickery Interns (Poor Man's Linking Rings)
Zip Lock Bags - Wayne Houchin
Baggy Pants - Corey King
Big Gaudy Finger Rings - Garrett Thomas
Extra Silverware - Banachek


I know I am forgetting a bunch more but that is a start. Please feel free to add to the list.

shoe laces, dry stick of gum, silverware, matches, disposable lighters, dog clips, pens, notepad, rabbits, bananas, monkeys (what do you think the bananas are for?), cigarretes, bling, nail polish remover, womens lingerie, hankerchiefs, watches, streamers, sodium acetate, the batmobile...

and many more that I had to refrain from saying :)

WOW! Lots of weird stuff. Glad you stopped there. if you needed womens lingerie we don't wanna know what else you bought!:D

Well I am glad I so far don't have any gimmicked effects, although I don't buy as many Brisk Ice Tea CAns because they don't work for Sinful

Haha, I just bought 4 pounds of sodium acetate last month to make super saturated solutions with. I put the solution in a water bottle and then had it outside. I told my niece that was visiting that since the water was close to the freezing point that all I needed was an ice cube to kick it into super freeze mode. She grabbed an ice cube and I took it and rubbed it around the outside of the bottle and then touched it to the surface of the open bottle as I let a few crystals of sodium acetate under my finger nail come in contact with the solution. Then wham it started to "freeze" and I told her it was freezing so fast that it was actually getting hot. It freaked her out for a bit but she figured out pretty quickly that it had to be something other than water.

I bought a small child from Venezuela once. I was using him for this specter cabinet illusion. I swear, he got in and I never saw him again. :(

I get a few strange looks when im looking through the water bottles trying to find just the right one for Factory Sealed at the supermarket. I also buy small pots of jam for magic, which comes in useful when you dont wake up at home....

I always buy about five Chris Kenners everytime I stop by the Dollar Store. The cashier always gives me that "look" when I'm checking out.
