Third Degree Burn

The Teaching 10/10
Jason Palter has done the best teaching job I have seen so far. His ideas for remember parts of the gimmick make the learning process much much faster. The DVD is well done and the booklet also included really helps out with many additional ideas for this trick.

The Gimmick 9/10
This really could get a 10/10 but my preference would have been sloppier numbers to kinda give more of a fire effect. The Gimmick is well built and even though I think it could be priced lower I do not mind at all the price. I put a lighter to the gimmick and it never got hot at all, and the way it is designed it really helps you understand the numbers and signs.

The Effect 10/10
The one effect everybody asks me to do is this one. I couldnt understand why at first because everything is simple and takes about fifteen seconds to do or even faster depending on the type of effect you are doing. My idea with the flash paper is much more visual and really adds to the effect but you can play it safe or play it dangerous and it all adds to it.

GET THIS. I cant stress how much this can help you out with your routines or just show this trick by itself.

Review

Guys i gotta admit that when my friend got this i was "it is great" because i didnt know the secret, which i unfortunately i discovered while he performed it on live audience . Although he had practised every little detail when he went out there this is what happend: We approach a group of people say the standard stuff and get into the effect. a girl names the 6 of hearts then while he said imagine your card dancing in the flames i saw a spectators eyes watching his left hand i also looked at it and i understood what was going on . Still the reactions we got were something like "okay.good trick". we approached another group of people at the same night and performed blistered(by precision magic) and the reactions were
"what the f**k!!Are you kidding me dude?!?"
3d deggree burn burn, what they see: They think of a card and they tell you what it is(Some will remember that you HAD to know what the card was). you bring out a lighter and when you touch the flames ,blisters appear on your arm with the shape of their card. price about 62$
Blistered what the spectators see: they freely select a card and place it back in the deck. you Never see their card .you ask them to write their card on a piece of paper and crumple it up so that you cant see it.you burn the card but accidently your fingers touched the fire and blisters appear on them. the blisters have the shape of the chosen card Price 24$
(both presentations can be used for both effects)
In my opinion with 3d deggre you will practice opperating the gimmick. With the other blister effects you practice with a card force.Same thing. And do not forget that a force is of great value to magicians anyway.
the only difference is the price.2 similar effects , i would buy the cheaper one .
Hope that helped

I have to say, if the spectator was glued onto his left hand while he was performing, he either a) hasn't practiced enough, b) looks incredibly suspicious or c) has terrible presentation skills...

The spectator's eyes should not be anywhere near your hands if you have any ability whatsoever to engage with the audience. If you don't possess this ability, clearly, you need to work on it.

On the other hand for your comparison though, you have to force a card on them. With Third Degree Burn, they only have to think of one, so you can't possibly have any pre-arranged. Yes, you have to learn the gimmick, but it's rather easy.

I agree with some aspects of your comparison, for example the price, and the method differences - but 3rd Degree does have its advantages as well.
