Tricks You Would Perform in the Street

If someone asked you to go out and perform street magic, what would be the tricks you would perform?

I have this feeling that I am missing out on some great effects I'm seeing, but that I have no clue about. I'm really interested in Street Magic so I'm wondering what tricks you would perform in the street (presuming they are the strongest you you can do) so I can have an idea of some really great tricks to look into.

Well, what alot people use on the street is some type of ACR, i really dislike that in general. i consider the routine should consist of 3 phase,

#1, opener, something fast, strong and visual. preferably require no explanation as in the start what u want is to attract attention from your audience, usually they are abit skeptical about the whole thing when u approach.
so Panic is good idea, i played with it abit and it works great. although personally i dont use it as an opener. My personal favourite here is a variation i use with the "richard sanders' Supercards.

#2, This is a phase u want a steady of effects that continues one after another without switching deck with different type of effects. Because i end the opener with 4 kings or any 4 same cards. i jump in to hoffzy osbourne or any other effect utilizing the 4 cards, and some other signed card transposition effects, i strongly dislike ACR, i believe people simply use it because u can do a chain effect without reposition the cards, but in fact u can do that with alot different effects and it is really up to you to link them up. Sometimes i perform a variation of panic + ghost deck double deck vanish routine i made up and end this phase here.

#3 in the Last phase u want to end the session with an effect that u can give something out as an souvenir, something the spectator can keep. I like the Strangest Card from peter harrison. every now and then depends on the setting after vanishing my deck i get in to a more mentalist type of ending here.

tricks i perform on streets alot stigmata, distortion around campus,kaos, indecent, transpositions prohibition alot its fun i startes of with shoe trick (color changing shoelace and self tying shoelace) both amazing ones then went to stigmata

If someone were to ask me in the street to perform an effect, I would choose from one of these tricks -- 2 Card Monte, Here and There, Distortion, Digital Dissolve, Indecent, The Trick That Fooled Houdini, Ambitious Card Routine, Puncture, Coin Bite, Disjointed, Balducci Levitation ... something simple, but mind-blowing,

I would have to go with Stigmata. Then again... people may perceive that as you being a freak and not a magician.... I don't care. I love Stigmata.

I do Derren Brown's card force, it is were you ask a person to think of a card, just think of the card. then I ask them to name the card they say the 3 of diamonds. I then reach in my pocket and say "last night i had a dream I was here talking to you and I ask you to think of a card, you told me the card. An so iI put that card in my pocket this morning." An at that moment I turn the card over slowly. I do this as my last effect. Also you should know that this on work 80% of the time, thats still good. but if they say another card I reach into my other pocket and pull out my invisible deck. Always have a out. Hope that help

Well this is an easy one...

Anything ambitious card wise, and of course ANYTHING on the Theory 11 site. Digital Dissolve, Distortion, Panic and Witness are all great. Card to Mouth from The Trilogy is always a shocker. 2 Card Monte. Stigmata. I'm sure you can find these tricks pretty easily.

I perform that too from time to time.

For street stuff I personally like anything where you need nothing or you borrow any items from the spectators. Unless you have your cards ready

Money effects (bills and coins) go down well in street situations too, especially effects with bills/notes.

The only real "routine" I've been doing lately is this:

Open with Digital Dissolve... move into a few coin sleights, sometimes I do some stuff off of "Ice Coins" by Congreave then depending I'll switch and do a half dollar in bottle, or put it away and go into cards...

I'll do Paperclipped, then my own torn and restored. Then usually I'll do Distortion now...

I don't have a lot of time to perform these days.. only coming into and leaving from the DFAC.. and doing a little bit here and there for people while they eat.

I always do 2card monte, here then there, card in spectators hand, and a couple of coin vanishes, it always bugs people out.

I start of with aces production, then the four aces (or four seasons - as per reference to my patter),renegade, then biddle, two card monte, stigmata, cigarette break (usually i'll ask if anyone there smokes so i get one stick free ), then voodoo ash, torn and restore ciggarete, i'll usually vanish the cigarette after that.. spoon bending, then end with a variation of garcias warning (am I the only one who still does that effect?)
