Underground coin magic

I see a very clear difference between "regular" and "underground" magic, as the latter seems to be called. Before I stumbled on this web site (forget how) I had never experienced underground magic, but after seeing it really like the new style and almost... self respect this style has. It removes the stigma around magic and replaces it with plain coolness (given that you're a good performer).

However, it seems like most everything on this site is cards. You see a "playing cards" tab up top, but no "cool coins" tab, and all the tricks but digital dissolve and control are card tricks. Has underground not yet enveloped coins? What are your suggestions for giving coin magic the same, I dunno, feeling as this new card stuff? Is it just in how I present the tricks?

Coins

There are undergorund coin things out.
They are not always gimmicked materials and therefore are not sold that way.
Check out some of the Chris Kenner One on Ones. Unicoin and Hellbound are very good coin material.

Underground material ...most of the guys that I know that have been in the undergorund have not released their "stuff" so that most of that material is exclusive to them. Much of it is also extremely creative.

It is great that guys like Troy Hooser and Chris Kenner and even Homer Liwag are making great videos for us regular guys to learn from. The three guys I just mentioned were underground for some time before they released their material to the magic community at large.

I know there are a few things (I'm probably going to finally get out my wallet and pay for TOOC tonight); I'm just curious why the main emphasis so far has been on cards. Thanks for the tip, though.

It's because most people do card magic. Simple as that.
But it's also because cards have a 'flourish' thing to them as well, which makes them unique and awesome. Coins require a lot of sleight of hand which most people shy away from.

Actually, that's not true.

In the magic world, by and large, most people do prop magic. In the online magic world, which is miniscule, card magic takes precedence, yes, but most of the working magicians in the world work outside the realm of card magic.

A better way to say it is that many magicians start out learning card magic, but they often move on to other things as they progress along in the art.

As to the original question, there is a ton of great coin material out there that would probably blow you away. Dean Dill has some really interesting work on his DVD set, as does David Stone. Jay Sankey will make your head spin with the amount of coin magic he puts out. There's Coinvention videos volume 1 through I think 5 now, all with professional coin workers.

You may not see it here, but it's out there if you seek it.

Well, one could answer this question the way the others are going about it, but I am going to answer it in a much more difficult way.

What is "underground?" is it something that most people do not know about? is it something that most people don't do? Well in that case, this website ccontaints nothing underground. it is not even an "underground" site, for it would show up on the first page of a google search on "card magic."

So in this sense, most coin magic IS underground.
