Was Ellen in on this?

I have the linking lifesavers and I know how the effect is done. I have concluded that Ellen must have been in on the trick at 2:12 in this video
I don't think it's possible to have a spectator tug on the linked lifesavers without them realizing how it's done and ruining the effect.

Another issue I have is that most lifesavers that are bought in a package today are not the right size and are too big. I think the ones that come in a roll might be the right size but do any of you know where I can get the right size for the linking lifesaver effect?

Thanks,
-Tyler

Just on first viewing it seems fairly obvious to me that she isn't in on it. I also know exactly how he was able to let her examine them, and I don't even know how the Linking Lifesavers works.

His handling and performance manner are absolutely superb. Doing Saw immediately after the linking was also a stroke of genius as he avoided the awkward 'can I look at that' moment.

I caught the part where he switched it with the Linking Lifesavers gimmick but I'm not sure on how he constructed two lifesavers together to be examined where they can be tasted and pulled on.

That's the easy part. I used to do that school when I came up with my own handling using regular mints and a thumb tip.

Plus, wouldn't I just be revealing another guys method if I told you?

Well when I go on television to perform this I'd rather not wear a thumb tip because I want the effects to be as clean and examinable as possible and HD cameras can definitely pick up a thumb tip discrepancy.

It's okay because I think I just came up with my own method of building one. Now I just need to find a place where I can find the right sized mints.

If you think a camera can pick up a thumb tip then you don't know how to use a thumb tip. A TT should never really be in view. If real life people don't notice it then why would a camera?

Plus, eveything would be examinable. Unless the audience demanded to examine my thumb, but when has that ever happened?!

Would love to see your method when it's ready. No sarcasm, just curious to see how you going to make a totally clean method. You could use sleights but you Doubting Thomas effect suggests you're definitely more of a gimmick guy.

For this effect there is not just one way to do it. Justin performs many variations of this same effect and the method differs depending on the situation. When asked which method he uses he boldly says "All of them". Just to give some scope on the variations of methods here are a couple links to those out there.

Is the real original. The Lifesavers can be signed and handed out without a switch in this one. It is off of the market though.
