Now, all the time you hear people ask what magic means to them, and we hear that question a lot.

But my question is, What is flourishing to you? Why do you do it? What motivates you? How do you view the art of flourishing and cardistry?

this art, i believe, is only a doorway. i believe this art is something of a challege to the magician, but used, as in a play, to entertain the audiences eye, much like a beautiful piece of art, in way where they dont have to think, just enjoi!! lits like skateboarding to me. pleasing, but hard as f***.

Flourishing is a totally badass way to show skill and make people take you seriously as a magician as opposed to just some kid who does tricks. It shows that you know what you're doing and gives you a sense of authority.
My english teacher also brought up an interesting point when he heard about flourishes. He talked about how everyone's seen it done in movies and that everyone's tried something like it before when they were children. It makes people reevaluate how much effort they put into practice and makes them think about what's possible when they see a 14 year old doing things that they thought were nearly mythical that show an obvious amount of skill, dexterity and practice. Combine this with magic and you've got a life changing combination.

Back then, I started card magic only and I was just browsing through youtube and saw a kid doing sick card flourishes. I was totally hooked and flourishing is a great way to improve my dexerity and a nice handling for my card magic.
