i've been planning on learning a torn and restored effect for a while and will be buying one in the next week or two. the problem is i don't know which one to get. i've seen torn and torn too by Daniel Garcia, as well as TnR by Mathieu Bich.

my questions:
1) what other good variations are there?
2) which ones tend to get the best reactions?
3) which ones can be done with a signed card?

Torn too and Torn can be done with a signed card, TnR cant as far as I remember, please dont get TnR its too unpractical/inpractical (correct me mods), torn too is faster, more visual than torn, but torn is piece by piece.. If I were you I would get torn too...

TnR's

I would agree with Aris, TnR looks great, but is HIGHLY impractical in a real world setting (IMO).
As far as classic piece by piece restorations -- and by classic i mean, true to the hollingworth style -- I think torn is a great TnR. It is highly visual can be done with a signed card, and doesn't really require any 'gimmicks' just some prep work.
If you don't mind getting your hands dirty and using gimmicks/prep Jordan Johnson's 'Holy Grail' is probably the most visual -- and easy -- piece by piece TnR on the market. There are no extra pieces, no cover, it can be done completely surrounded, and at the end all the creases are removed and the card is handed back to the spectator to keep. This TnR is rock solid... and SOOO easy, its almost sinful.
Also, don't get 'Unripped' by Gared Crawford, unless you are a huge fan of ruth goldberg. It would be a great effect for a stage show, but for the ridiculous amount of work it takes to set up/ perform you will probably never do it. Its a good DVD if you want to get another perspective on TnR effects, but you will probably laugh out loud at how complex it is (especially what he calls the 'complex version) I know i did...

Tnr's

Yup, thats the one i was talking about. Its very visual, takes some setup, but its worth it if you want to do a tnr.

I like ReinCARDnation, because it's the only one I know of that you only need one card to do a piece by piece restoration....It's also the most practical out of all the TNR's that I own. (I own all the one's stated plus 3-4 more)....

Hope this helps,

Try that forum for some nice conversation on T&Rs

As far as tricks I enjoy, I think the most beautiful to look at is Glenn West's Seamless. It's not available on DVD, but I believe you can get a PDF of it somewhere... I'm not sure where.

I personally do Torn quite often because it's quite simple, but I've never learned any other T&R effects. Torn too doesn't seem to have the wow factor I think the other ones have... but I've never done it before.
