Why was my thread yesterday about the movie
www.zeitgeistmovie.com
which talks about religion, 911, banks, war in iraq etc
goes over known facts and debunks the myths about all of them

such as, for example, how the story of what we know as jesus, has been around in world religions for over 6000 years (documented fact)

just wondering why the topic was deleted?

which is why we need an off topic forum

and conspiracy theory?

explain to me how DOCUMENTED HISTORICAL FACTS are conspiracy?

and we cannot "advertize" other sites?
then why do i see links of ebay, ellusionist, google etc

i posted it to spark discussion, and told people to view the movie with an open mind, people are smart and can come to their own conclusions

this forum can be 100x more interesting if we didnt talk about our favorite cards 24/7

You can spin things however you want, but it's still a conspiracy theory. It's arguements like these that are the precise reason yor thread probably got deleted. Also, if you read my post correctly "Nor does this site allow blatant advertising of other sites, especially non magic ones." this thread has nothing to do with magic or cards or t11 in anyway. If there is no off topic forum, guess what? YOU DON'T POST OFFTOPIC THINGS! It's not really a difficult concept.

no, the bible is a conspiracy theory
scientific/historical facts are not myths, nor conspiracies, but what it is- fact

im not trying to advertizer the site at all, im just giving people the opportuntity to view this

its like when somebody mentions a movie in their posts, blatent advertizing?

You see however there is no such thing as "historical fact" nor "scientific fact" since history is a highly subjective thing, and science changes so often that everything is kept as "thoeries" because it cannot be stated as strict fact, because what if something changes? Anything that is not absolute cannot be a fact. Nor would I consider the Bible a conspiracy theory, I am not religious, however while anyone may argue the validity of the Bible, there is no conspiracy. That Jesus had a family that has decenant to modern times (such as Da Vinci Code) would be considered a Conspiracy Thoery.

Blatant advertising is opening a thread completely dedicated to a movie in a "General Magic Discussion" forum, in which the movie has nothing to do with magic. Mentioning a movie is completely different to opening a whole thread dedicated to the movie which you have done.

So why are you continuing THIS thread, which is about two blokes who disagree, and nothing to do with magic?

yeah...about theat. people have very strong opinions and sometyimes if someone goes against someone else opinion, they get flamed, and then there is a flame war.

in short:

Controversial topics = flame wars = bad

thats fine, but it can be donewithout fdlaming
i want people (im sure theres some smart folks on this site) to watch the video, and give their own take on it, what they think
it can be an amazing discussion if childish behaviour is left for the "your favorite trick" threads

unholy...did you even watch the film?

Go to a movie site if you want to talk about movies. Go to a religion site if you want to talk about religion (believe me there are plenty of dip sh*ts to argue with there). I'm sure the movie is very thought provoking however it has nothing to do with magic. That's what people are HERE for, hence the "your favorite trick" thread and "which cards will give me an errection" threads. Just the wrong topic for this site. That's all. Maybe give a link to another forum where people can respond to what they've seen.

Phenomena,

Your thread was deleted because it was not magic related, and this is a general magic forum.

While we all enjoy talking about myths, social issues, and the such, we want to try to stick as closely to magic as possible here. Otherwise, we run the risk of it becoming a "General Talk About Anything Forum" rather than a "General Magic" forum.

Hope this makes sense, and my apologizes for not informing you of your thread's deletion.

I'm going to go ahead and close this thread as well. Feel free to PM me if have any further questions, concerns, or comments. Thanks!

JTM
