During the summer I am going to start working as a magician and I was wondering if I would be wrong to say that I do not perform for youngsters. I tend to do magic that is more involved so my audience would be about 10 or older.... Would I have to start getting some children's magic in order to get booked?

Nah. It's not wrong saying you do adult shows, although kids shows are a great way to get some experience. The magic I do is not suited for children, so I tend to perform for adults if I go out.
The only downside is that if you are younger than the majority of your audience it is a bit awkward. Don't ask me why.

well it depends on where you are going to be working. If the majority of the people are going to be families with children, knowing some childrens magic wouldnt be a bad idea. However if you are going to be at a place where most everyone who is watching you is the right age group for the type of magic you perform, then you probably wont have to.
I don't do children's parties - if kids are at an adults function I get them involved and its an important skill to have handy because it is pretty much expected of you - but that's another story.
If I'm asked about kids parties, that kind of thing, then I refer them to another local magician who specialises in kids magic. My advice would be to try and get in touch with someone like that in your area and ask their permission to refer the work to them - I doubt they'd have a problem with that!
