This video won't play for some reason. I'll have to watch it later. But I know what you mean in getting caught with a clunky lift. In fact, I took a two month break before performing for other kids at school because I was so certain that my DL couldn't be fixed. That's why I've put so much effort into smoothening the lift out. These days I don't get caught much. I attribute that to misdirection. My misdirection skills have really improved in the last year. Again, high school makes you good, very good, very quickly. So I think that has a lot to do with it.

riffling is totally fine, that's the way i do it too. The killer secret to make it look good is to move your right hand away (drop it to the side, or gesture, act yourself somehow) and say something, to get some dead time from catching the break to lifting the double while the left hand stays still and does nothing (very important).
That helps you to catch a breath if you're shaking, and relax whenever possible.

The pinky count: i don't know how you do it, but it may help change the grip, i reposition my hand with the left index more to the corner, and in that way i can get the pinky more up toward the top. But again, lifting the back of the card, pausing, and doing the double is just too comfortable!

The dip seems a bit unnatural to me, it sure help the angles, but it communicates that something is going on.
The action is turning one card, if i'd wanted to add a big motion i'd just twist the deck while turning the card instead of dipping.

I honestly think it looks great! It all depends how you turn over a single card. Remember, your DL should look identical! So if you are turning over a single card this way you need to turn over your DL the same way!

Awesome. Thanks to all of you for your help! My DL is getting better yet!

Also, Michael, I just started working on your routine, "Dicewave" and it rocks! I love the simplicity, so it's easy to pick up and polish quickly for an intermediate level card guy like myself.
