Why are you complaining?

Why are you here?

Whats your point?

Who cares?

Do you think hes not creative?

Wayne Houchin is better than you.

Wayne Houchin is the CREATIVE director of theory11.

Wayne Houchin created more than you.

Don't insult ANYONE better than you.
Thats like some noob insulting Cardini.

And people call me hostile.

What do you care? You have absolutely no personal stake in this whatsoever. Why is the goblin in your head commanding you to flip out on that guy?

i beg to differ

Wayne is an awesome magician. perhaps he only releases his version of effects, which undeniably improve them immensely, rather than marketing his killer stuff. take a look around and you can see he has created more magic than just four or five effects he's released on dvd.

i will not stand by and let anyone say anything bad about Wayne. he is a brilliant magician and an innovator of our art. I'd have to say he's my favorite magician.

cheers

That Wayne Houchin, a great performer, but is he an over rated creator of magic? I mean, look at Daniel Garcia, the idea's of a bill' seal being moved....AMAZINGLY new and something never THOUGHT of! Also, stuff like Paul Harris's Ladybug, Interlace.....etc...are all new AMAZING revolutionary ideas....

but wayne's stuff is just....well...not new.

Indecent was first published in some old book by Lorayne...or miller or one of those guys, so nothing new there...

Stigmata, even though he thought of it himself, was nothing new. Banachek had thought it up, so nothing AMAZINGLY innovative came put of that.

And now, Distortion, just another Cyril's moving pips, or simply another one like "New era moving pips."

Control-pulse stop, nothing new, even though this method is supposed to be new, and better. But again, a REPEAT idea.

The idea of a soda can combusting has been done before, ive seen it on youtube. nothing new.

So......just a thought, but I think wayne is a great performer, and a really nice guy.....but have we really thought about that if some kid just thought up a trick already on the market...people wouldn't think of him as creative?

just a thought,

Nigel

I don't care what you say about Wayne Houchin, I think that he is one of the best creators in magic there is. All of his ideas are original and creative. maybe people thought of some of his effects before (like every effect in the world) but they never had the guts to publish them and make them famous like Wayne's tricks are.

This is a frikken forum i say what I want to say.Don't say anything if you don't want anyone to say something back.It doesnt matter what you say either.

Guys, Theory 11 is off to a great start; not one topic locked thus far to my knowledge. Please don't let your "petty arguments gone wild" change that.

I'm not siding with either of you, I'm siding with neither of you; Please stop the argument and try to act civilized.

You're right, this is a forum. Give yourself a star.

However, the miracle of digital anonymity does not give you carte blanche to make a fool of yourself. The threadstarter's criticism of Wayne is nothing I haven't seen before to which I responded with my usual "Build a better mousetrap" argument. Not that anybody listened.

You on the other hand hopped on your chair, communicating in a series of grunts and whistles as you flung your own filth at the screen.

For someone as foul-mouthed, narcissistic, and pretentious as yours truly to tell you you're acting more hostile and defensive than Tom Cruise at a gay porn convention, that's pretty impressive.

So do you think maybe we can calm down and discuss this like rational human beings?

Wow, I really love your play on words, and I agree

I feel Wayne Houchin is a great performer and creator, and he has an excellent teaching style.
Yes some of his effects are alternate handlings on things already done, but then this can be said for basically every effect there is.
You are also getting more than just the method, but WH's routining and experience with the effect which I feel he does amazingly well.
The thing is that the effects WH has released to the magic community thus far have all been real world material thats practical, fully tested and powerful magic.

I guess we will see what he truly has to offer as this is just the beginning.

The idea of things being moved is actually an old idea.

You would be amazed at how many effects you see today are just variations of very very old effects.

I could care less for the arguement as "Build a better mousetrap" kinda' settled it for me.

However...have to say...Steerpike...

If I'd had a cup of coffee in my hand when I read your post I'd have spat it out all over my monitor.

Ok come on seriously...would you have rathered learned indecent from a book, and then go out have a hard time mastering it and performing is because well simply...it came from a book.

I couldn't care less for the rest of this thread, but let me just say now, that books are actually very important if you want to be a decent magician. Not only is the majority of better material found in books, but almost all of the theory, presentation and showmanship ideas are too.
