Magic Cafe?

Not trying to white knight or anything but, y'all are really proving why some people do not like to go to the cafe. When someone says something unsavory it gets taken as a bash, thus you get all the arm chair magicians go "Nag nag radda radda Steer or (insert hater hear) is wrong and needs proof to say that opinion."

Look the fact is, there are many many people on the magiccafe who are reliable to listen to. However, with the advent of internet anonymity has become a problem. You have to take people's opinion with a grain of salt for the most part. Another thing is, Steer has a pretty good blog full of insightful information. So does Bizarro, another magician who was banned from the labyrinth known as the magiccafe. Hell the magiccafe pissed off an entire group of magicians prompting them to create their own forum off the main site.

Now back to the one person who is being attacked here, Steerpike. He has valid points, there is a lot of inflated egos on those boards and apparently the more and more I stay here, t11, I am seeing inflated egos appear here. If a message board where you are supposed to actually have a discussion is being modded so tightly that you can't even speak an opinion that goes against the grain of the general consensus, then the forum as a forum has failed. It might as well be a list of magicians if you are only going on there to private message someone. But you know what, I got coffee waiting to be drunk and my lunch break is almost over. Y'all have fun.

My time at the Cafe was short, hostile, and unpleasant. I was vying for space with the greatest concentration of wannabes, has-beens, and never-wases I've ever seen in my life. **** that place with a knife.



That means the Cafe has failed at its alleged purpose. We already have something that does that much better. It's called email.

If the Cafe were a real place, it's signature green color would also be the color of the thick, oily film covering every surface. I would not go in there without a hazmat suit and a supersoaker filled with bleach.



I did. That's why I left, smartass. I did everything you said, but because my opinions were not popular the jackals that inhabit the Cafe decided to make my time there miserable. There are times and places where it's wiser to shut up, but in a place that's supposedly designed to facilitate discussion, I should not have to walk on eggshells nor should I be attacked for saying something that challenges the status quo.

Your advice of how to survive at the cafe ultimately amounts to, "Keep your head down, shut up, and kiss as much ass as possible." Pardon me for stealing someone else's joke, but as the frustrated Chinese zookeeper said to the last male panda on earth: **** that!

Even with all of the disputes we've had I agree, I haven't visited the cafe lately. I also haven't visited that other site that you're clearly a part of. Possibly, you have some bias as to which site to go to???

You're a moderator their. Just tell them to let me back. Or is that against the rules? After all, I have written a multitude of material that helps young magicians learn the art. Probably more good
posts there than you'll ever make.

Or did your series of impeccable works give others homage. I've been online with magic for years and have never crossed a cry-baby as bad as yourself. You cannot admit when you're wrong. And if you are you cry about it.

Steerpike, I dont know if you think your a hard ass or something, but insulting everyone and making "witty" little jokes and comparisons doesnt make anyone respect you, nor does it gain you any credibility.

That suggests I want or need your approval. That your respect means anything to me.

You talk so much about how you supposedly know everything and apparently have all the solutions to everything magic, but yet have no evidence of this so-called expertise. It's time for you to put up or shut up.

Oh, don't start. I never claimed to know everything and have repeatedly shown deference to those who have earned it. What pisses me off about this issue is how you people are such apologists for the status quo. Anyone who criticizes the Cafe is brushed off with excuses like, "You just didn't use your brain," or "Well, it's not like that when I'm there." Effectively you are calling people like me either stupid or liars. It is my right to speak up. And I'm not going to shut up to appease whiners like you.

You want me to do you a favor, and yet you spend more breath talking smack than making your request? Drew, I act like a dick because I don't want anything from the majority of these people. I show my best side to those who have earned it. You on the other hand transparently want something from me, and think you can belittle me into getting it?

The Magic cafe is a mess. I'm not just talking about the politics and how everybody acts on it. I'm talking about how the way it is designed, the forum is such a huge maze and a hassle just to find certain things that should in fact be really easy. I mean why the hell do they have a forum for LITERALLY everything. It just clutters up the website and makes it look bad.

If you can't be bothered to do a search on posts I've made, that's not my fault. I'm not all piss and vinegar, and if you had done your homework before shooting your mouth off at me, you would know that.

Anyway, I criticize because there's nowhere near enough of that. Most of you just praise each other in the unspoken agreement that you'll get more of the same later. Very few people here have actually earned the respect they claim to have.
