Hi, I wanted some nice, not fancy playing cards for practicing card magic. I currently use modern STUDs, but they're getting worn out and I can't find as good quality anywhere else. Any recommendations?
Hi
I find just standard Bicycle playing cards are the best. Because they are so cheap and accessable you can rip them, burn them, sign them whatever you want. Also they feel really nice for their price.
Bikes from your local costco/sam's club/online etc are like $14 for 12 so that is an effective practice card if there. However, practicing with your favorite card of choice so you're used to the handling is always a good idea. If they're a $15 vanity deck, try to avoid ripping/tearing/burning effects obviously
You can find inexpensive or sometimes even free used decks from most casinos. The decks I get are nice enough to practice with. But your experience may differ.

Yes, I live in Atlantic City, NJ..... We call it dirty Vegas on the beach, lol... Anyway I have tons of those casino decks..... Either holes punched through it the corners are mitered off.

AKA mercury fold, tear and restore and burn practice cards?
Do any of the local like thrifts or dollar stores get out of rotation unpunched decks? Mine used to until the casinos started donating cards to military overseas.

Not really no, the only time you'll see something like that is when some of the casinos closed down because of the economy. Over here Trump Taj Mahal, Showboat, Revel, and the Hilton closed down. We still have like 13 or 14 left but anyway, and you'll find unpunched Decks that they used to use.......
