I just got Beyond Secrets from Jay Sankey. Not sure if it is top 10 quality or not. Let you know once I read it. I might put Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic on that list though. Of course AoA, Tarbell and Bobo go without saying.
For me :
Greater Magic - John Nothern Hilliard (This is the Bible)
Stars of magic
Variation - Earl Nelson
The two books of Ross Bertram
Art of astonishment - Paul Harris
Modern Coin Magic - J.B. Bobo
The Books of Wonder - Tommy Wonder
illustrated history of magic - Milbourne Christopher
From a mentalists standpoint, my favorite books are:
13 steps- Corinda
Pure Effect- Derren Brown
Mind Warp- Richard Mark
Absolute magic- Derren Brown
Art of Astonishment- Paul Harris
Mendacity/Consecution- Patrick Redford
Transformations- Lawrence Hass
Psychological Subtelties 1- Banachek
Psych. Subtleties 2- Banachek
Meant to be- John Born
if you are a big card guy (or gal)
then get Aaron fisher's book the paper engine
some great moves and even better tricks (but it is a little advanced) (not a beginners book in my opinion)
Well my favourite and the best books I felt after reading have been..
1)Art of Astonishment series
2)Few notes of Sean Fields
3)Pure Effect-Derren Brown
4)Absoulte Magic-Derren Brown
5)Bobos Coin Magic (my personal favourite)
6)Royal Road to card magic
