Torment: Levitating Card Box

This was so sick. Seriously.
Justin teaches you around 4-5 different ways to do this. All the same method but different "gimmicks".
I put that in quotes because only one of them to me is a gimmick. If you use the gimmick I like, the angles are so clean. They can clearly see nothing is holding up the box.
Justin goes over all the handlings for the trick in full detail and is very clear in what he's saying.
I can honestly say I watched the video, made the "gimmick" and had no trouble learning the handling.
I do have one thing to say: Be careful on making the gimmick.

The Other Side: A very visual card thru card with a TNR ending that is very clean and visual.
The handling on this is very easy. I did get a laugh out of watching JM do it because his gimmick messed up a few times during the explanation.
There's not really much to say about this trick. It's super visual and easy. What else could you ask for? I enjoyed this trick a lot and wondered why JM had a special going on that gave away The Other Side as a bonus if you bought Torment.

Great job JM.

Thank your time in reviewing this! Where might one be able to get said badass magic?
P.S. the reason my "gimmick" got a little screwy is because I did not have it set right...lol

After having a hectic weekend I was able to really take a look at JM's Torment and The Other Side. Unfortunately, I was unable to get any live performances in.

Effect: Torment

This is a levitating card box that can be performed above a deck of cards, above a cell phone, above a wrist / forearm, there are many possibilities depending on your environment and what fits best. It sort of reminded me of the Up Levitation by Boden and Hoosier but the gimmick(s) are a tad different. (I actually like JM's better because it is easier to end clean with less work.) The spectators will have no clue what hit them. I was up and moving with this in about 10 minutes and playing around.

For me this is NOT a stand alone effect, yet would be something to throw in while doing card effects to throw in a totally different vibe.

Angles: As Justin states, from 10 to 2 this looks simply AMAZING. If it were me performing I would probably keep this for more intimate settings where it is just a few spectators standing in front of you. You can show a little bit from side to side but that starts to get "iffy" depending on your hand coverage and how confident you get.

JM goes over numerous variations so I'm sure you will find one out of the group that you will latch on to. As mentioned by another reviewer, it is essentially one gimmick doing the work but there are variations of the gimmick to suit your needs. Well done Justin.

Video Quality: This is what lacked a little as the camera has some issues zooming in and out of focus. I understand this completely because I had the same issue when filming a fellow magicians work in our basement and the camera gets confused due to the light and dark. The video quality is not bad but it could probably be shot again with a better camera or lighting.

The other thing I was not a big fan of is there were a few words used in the footage not suitable for younger magicians. I felt bad because my kids were in my living room heard them. I'm not knocking the effect, maybe just a little more professionalism.

Effect: The Other Side

This is a great card thru card effect with a kicker TNR thrown in at the end. You will have to do a little prep work but you will be ready to roll in about a minute or two.

I always like the idea of objects penetrating and then no evidence left behind. Your spectator gets to see their card folded and pushed through another folded card. When the magicians card is opened there is no hole to be seen. The magicians card is then torn into pieces (only complaint is that you can't see all 4 separated) and then restored instantly and easily by the magician. There is VERY little sleight of hand and it is easy to do. It is a very convincing restoration.

All in all JM has put a lot of thought and effort into these two products and these will be miracles in the hands of some of you.
