Where to Start?

In my experience- this is usually a bad idea, simply because you are focused on the TV Show, and not what's going on in your hands. So if you're doing the move wrong, you'll never know, and build up your muscle memory doing the wrong thing. Just a thought...

..and a good one. This bit of advice is sound if you're in the mastery/maintenance stages of your sleight of hand, but not as much in the earlier phase.

Agreed. I practice in front of the TV occasionally, but only when I'm positive that I've already got the move down, and am confident doing it and building up muscle memory without looking.

The thing is, sometimes you might just create a move or a variation of a move you've been practicing. I've done this a couple of times myself when i was doing something, then turned to look at my hands and a idea would pop into my mind.

I agree with the other post though.
