I thought it'd be cool to share a small but significant victory in my journey to become more comfortable performing magic for people. I'm typically a very social outgoing person, but for some reason I'm really insecure about showing my magic to people. I've posted several threads on this topic...
I've been eyeing the "Bee" decks for some time now, and I came across a "Best" deck that belonged to a friend when I went to his house. The tuck case was extremely similar, except that it was "Best" instead of "Bee". The cards were also the same: thick, diamond-backed and borderless.
But the...
What are the advantages and disadvantages of having a borderless deck of cards and having a deck with cards with a border?
Most Bicycle cards have a border, but "Bee" is borderless. It this because it's easier to detect cheating with borderless cards? (I came to this conclusion since "Bee" was...
How would you rate Magic: The Complete Course? Is it good? What level would you recommend it for? Does it focus on cards only, or different types of close-up tricks? Are the tricks thoroughly explained and taught? Is each sleight explained? How many pages is the book? Are there any tricks that...
What's the next book I should purchase after finishing Expert at The Card Table , Royal Road to Card Magic and Expert Card Technique? I haven't finished ECT yet, but I'd like to know what my next step would be. (Note: I don't have much interest in Scarne on Card Tricks, since all the card tricks...
I've been hearing that "Bee" cards are the best, while my friends recommend Standard Bicycles. Obviously, I need them to be good enough quality to do sleights and flourishes, and I can't invest in higher than $10.
I use bad quality, half-dollar, Chinese decks. They last around two months before they go stale... I want to buy a good Bicycle brand deck to do better flourishes and so that I don't need to invest in cards every once in a while. How long does a Standard Bicycle deck last? And what about "Bee"...
I'm between the beginner-intermediate phase, and people have recommended me to read Expert Card Technique. But I went through a small sample of the book, and the sleights seem a bit dated.
For example, the get-ready of the DL is to press on the outer and inner edges until the desired number of...
I got sort of "hired" for a walk around thing on the 19th at a wine club. Obviously everyone will be older than I am and possibly a bit drunk. I'll be there for like 2 ish hours.
I was just wondering if anyone had any trick recommendations, tips, anything to help.
Thank you!
So its christmas soon and i was thinking about getting the sansminds vapr, i have read alot of reviews on this product and alot of them are positive and negative. Alot of the reviews say that it doesnt produce alot of smoke or doesnt work. If any of you own this product can you please help me on...
Hey all! I'll cut the fat out of a long backstory, but basically I'm getting back into magic after about 3 years off (besides casual tricks at a party or something). I was digging around my old boxes of DVDs and books and came across some things I really want to get back into performing, but...
Yo everyone!
So I'm fluent in both English and my native language.
Most people around me speak English and the videos I watch of magicians performing and/ or teaching are also in English. A direct consequence of this is that the patter I've created and my persona (while performing magic) are...
I'm guessing there's been a ton of threads with this exact same topic so sorry if this is repetitive but i'm looking for advice on the riffle fan? I've learnt the method about a few hours ago but can't seem to get past a quarter of a circle, not sure if i should keep the platform finger flat so...
While my preferred form of magic is the inspect-able or impromptu type, I still do some effects that require duplicates. For example, when I do a specific torn nd restored effect I believe most of you are familiar with, I need 2 dupes of the same card. However, for the last year, I have grown...
After digging through multiple posts and threads, I have decided to post a new thread about the Invisible Card by Blake Vogt. The trick is truly amazing. The gimmick is brilliantly made that can only be created by Mr. Vogt. There has to be practice like every other trick, but once you've...
I've never known any magicians personally. I have only ever seen a handful of performances of magic that were not on tv. I have all the support that I could need from the people around me, but the only advice that they are able to give me is "practice, practice, practice". I understand the role...
I've recently picked up card magic, and over the past few months I've made a decent amount of progress. I'd consider myself somewhere between beginner and intermediate. I've covered all the content in the Royal Road to Card Magic, and mastered the slights in there, in addition to some material...
I started doing card tricks about 5 months ago or so. I practice as much as i can since i work yet i feel that even though i keep learning things i do it at a really slow pace and i can't get clean enough in things like passes. Beeing the classic pass a great example, i can do it, but i can't...
Hello, I have watched youtube videos from 52kards and disturb reality. I am able to do a decent double lift, and I am good at some tricks like the two card monte. I was wondering what the best route is to learn the best. Some questions I have are:
What are the best books to buy?
Any youtubers...
